The recent Pirelli World Challenge series double header at Mosport International Raceway saw lots of action; some of it expected and some not so much. The Canadian road course is an old-school design, 2.5-miles long, with plenty of elevation changes and a host of pucker-triggering, off camber turns.
Turn 4 there is not one of the worst of them, but it was enough for Momentum Autosports’ driver Alec Udell to get into trouble during a pass attempt. The turn is a sweeping, downhill left-hander with a neutral to slightly off-camber lie.
Udell has proven himself to be fast in the new Camaros, but the fifteen year old (yah, you read that right) may need a bit more seasoning on this track. From the video, its not entirely clear if he drifted, or was forced wide, during the pass. Regardless, the tire barrier was waiting for him and did its job admirably. Udell walked away from the altercation unharmed.
The Lewisville, Texas, racing team burst onto the World Challenge scene recently, taking a win in the race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, at the end of April. The next race in the series is scheduled for August 5, at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, in Lexington, Ohio.
