Video: World’s Fastest Camaro Goes 263.2 MPH at The Texas Mile

Kelly Bise’s black 4th Gen Camaro just keeps getting faster and faster – continuing to best its record MPH marks each time it takes to the tarmac at the Texas Mile. At the Spring running of the Texas Mile the Camaro was finally able to break through the 250 MPH barrier early in the event, and added an exclamation point to the achievement with a best-ever of 253.1 MPH. There was little question in anyone’s mind that the black 4th Gen was the “World’s Fastest Camaro.”

But you know what they say about records – they’re made to be broken. Bise and the team at KP Racing spent the last 6 months turning up the power on the Camaro’s LME built twin-turbo LSX mill in preparation to push the bar even higher. When the Camaro finally rolled out on the runway  down in Beeville, Texas last month for the Fall 2012 Texas Mile, it did so with an astronomical 2,500 horsepower on tap.

Bise turned the Camaro over to Joe Huneycutt, who piloted of the earth-bound LSX rocket ship to a best of 263.2 MPH, and shattered the car’s previous best by over 10 MPH. At those speeds, it becomes exponentially more difficult just to gain 2 or 3 MPH; tacking on an extra 10 MPH is nothing short of extraordinary. That huge jump actually put the Bise/KP Racing Camaro within one tenth of a MPH away from being the fastest vehicle of any kind to ever run down the Texas Mile. The Camaro fell second to the Hennessey Ford GT’s record run of 263.3 MPH, which was also set at the 2012 Texas Mile.

Joe Huneycutt had the honor of piloting the black beast to its best run to date - 263.2 MPH.

You can bet that Bise/KP Racing won’t be stopping there. Every time this car seems to have reached its limits, it finds a way to break through to the next level. If this car does have a limit, it sure hasn’t found it yet.
