If you haven’t done so already, make sure you watch this video with audio, and preferably loudly. The sound of the new LT4 powered Z06 sounds quite amazing, Corvette fan or not. In contrast with the high-pitched whine of the other on-track European cars you can hear the Z06 thundering down track even when it disappears from the shot.

For the other drivers on the Nurburgring that day, we can only speculate what they were thinking as that roaring, yellow Z06 began filling more and more of their rearview mirrors, only to be passed with a certain level of awe and confusion.

There is no certain data available regarding a lap time that we could find, but we do know a few things. Per a recent release of performance data for the Z06, we know that it is not too far off the Porsche 918 Spyder in regards to a 0-60mph, and a quarter-mile time. The top speed of the Z06 is still an unknown, and may in fact lose out to the Porsche’s 211mph top speed, but we suspect it won’t be by much.

The Spyder was able to complete a Nurburgring lap in 6 minutes, 57 seconds. It remains to be seen how much the all-wheel drive vs. rear-wheel drive of the Corvette will effect lap times, as well as the top speed. Considering the available power of the 918, we shouldn’t expect the Z06 to smash through a seven minute lap, and beat Stuttgart’s supercar. However, considering their car is about eight to nine times the price of fully equipped Z06, we’re thinking it will still be a day to celebrate for Corvette.
