Last year, the LS9-powered Equus Bass770 was previewed to the world. At that time, there were only three made, but another 20 units were on order, ready to go into production. We found this video from Equus Automotive that was posted in the fall of 2013, and all we could ask ourselves after watching it was, “how could we have missed this?” and “what’s the point?”
To give you a brief rundown of the video, the couple in the Bass770 gets pulled over, the cop asks the driver to step out, then has him open the trunk and hood. The cop then told the driver to wait by his squad car as he handcuffed him. Leaving the driver and his squad car behind, the cop hops in and takes off in the Equus Bass770 with the woman in the passenger seat. Weird, right? It gets weirder.
Using the power of the Bass770’s LS9 powerplant, he rips around city streets, burning rubber in the process, with the woman in the passenger seat, where she doesn’t say one word. In a Fast and The Furious-style action sequence, the cop jumps the Bass770 over the train tracks right as a train is about to pass. As the car drives into the frame in the next scene, we notice that they’re at an airport hangar with a private jet out front. The cop pulls the woman’s bag out of the trunk and walks it over to the plane to put it in. While the cop is walking the bag to the plane, the woman pulls the key fob out of her purse, gets in the Bass770, and stylishly drifts her way out of the airport like the boss she is.
What’s the point of this video, though? Was it just to show off the car sliding around in slow motion? Or was the video showing that the car is enticing enough to make anyone steal it, even after it has already been stolen? Let us know what you think in the comments.
