Seems the bugs down in Texas had a hard time getting out of the way of Lingenfelter's speeding yellow bullet...
Lingenfelter Performance Engineering can hang their hat on yet another first for the new Camaro ZL1. In a recent post on their Facebook page, we learned that Lingenfelter’s Yellow ZL1 is the very first example of the new model to achieve a top speed of over 200 HPH.
Lingenfelter says, “After several attempts at slightly above 199 MPH, David Freiburger just ran 202.67 MPH in the same Lingenfelter ZL1 Camaro that was the first in the 10’s. This is the first ZL1 over 200. Thanks to our friends at Continental/General Tire Proving Grounds at Uvalde, TX and to the team at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.”
It should be noted that the Yellow Lingenfelter ZL1 is far from showroom stock, and is reportedly pushing well over 700 horsepower; so don’t expect every new ZL1 to be able to reach those kinds of speeds. We view this as not only a victory for Lingenfelter, but also a victory for GM and the engineering team that built functional design cues right into the ZL1 to help it achieve enough downforce to reach these kinds of speeds. Stay tuned for more info on the 200 plus MPH run as we receive it.
