The C2 Corvette is one of the most beautiful cars ever built. Larry Shinoda and Bill Mitchell probably had no idea that their toil would be a coveted work of art treasured for decades.
When the C2 debuted in the fall of 1962, the car was a global sensation. Gone were old Harley Earl design cues replaced with razor sharp lines, a new chassis and an exotic–for the time–independent rear suspension. 
The car was shown with equally exotic, racing inspired knock-off wheels with two spinner hubs that never saw production. In fact it’s still murky exactly when the wheels came fully on-stream, but is generally agreed that they we widely available by 1965.
For ’67, Chevrolet ditched the flippers and threaded attachement system and offered the one year only, bolt-on aluminum version.
Either way, C2 Corvette aluminum wheels are as iconic as the car itself. Nothing looks better than a nicely presented ’63-’67 Corvette with sparkling spinners twirling in the sunshine.
