According to reports on Camaro5.com, the next public appearance of the ZL1 Camaro will be April 7 to 10th at the Dallas Autoshow. First announced at the Chicagoo Auto Show, the Uber-Camaro has left enthusiasts champing at the bit.
And why not? When it arrives in early 2012, the latest Camaro will have a 550 HP (est.), 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 tucked under its heat-ventilated hood, six-speed manual transmission and a good 30% of its component parts upgraded to handle the new level of performance.
The ZL1’s monstrous 22-inch wheels shod in Goodyear Supercar F1 tires are said to be 22 pounds lighter than the regular SS wheel and tire package. With it’s track-tuned, magnetic ride suspension and dual mode exhaust system, this Camaro is certainly going to be unlike any before it.
While the ZL1 pays tribute to an older, legendary model, there’s nothing antiquated about this one. With heads-up display, Boston Acoustics premium sound components, USB port and redundant steering wheel controls, new owners are just as likely to love driving the ZL1 to work as they are on the track. There is still more to learn about the ZL1 and perhaps we’ll be able to garner some more tidbits from the Dallas showing.
No additional appearances have been confirmed at the moment, but we’d be surprised if it’s missing from the upcoming New York Auto Show, which runs from April 22 through May 1st.
