As we all know, Chevrolet is bringing massive changes to its mid-engine sports car for the 2027 model year. Engineers are retiring the familiar 6.2-liter LT2 engine in favor of a brand-new 6.7-liter LS6. In addition to great horsepower gains, the fresh Gen VI small-block provides a distinct but familiar exhaust note.

Pumping out 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque, the new aluminum engine block features cast-in iron cylinder liners and A356 T6 cast-aluminum cylinder heads. A longer 3.94-inch stroke and a 4.06-inch bore help generate those massive performance numbers. Buyers following the 2027 Corvette Stingray update will appreciate that the powerplant remains naturally aspirated. Skipping superchargers preserves crisp throttle response while the internal components operate at a high 13.0:1 compression ratio up to a 6,600 rpm redline.

To feed this thirsty motor, designers installed a dual-injection fuel system combining direct and port delivery methods. A massive 92 mm throttle body maximizes air volume directly into the intake runners. These specific mechanical choices create serious low-end pulling power. Comparing the final numbers against legendary setups like the LS7 and the flat-plane LT6, GM stated the 6.7-liter block produces the highest production torque of a naturally aspirated V8 ever.

Shoppers also gain fresh hardware for the rear bumper. The upcoming Corvette now carries a dual-mode performance exhaust system as standard factory equipment. Buyers can bypass the standard dual outboard tips and select a brand-new quad center-exit exhaust layout. Recent street footage captured a test vehicle running this exact center-exit configuration on local roads. The video proves the new pipe setup emits a smooth, deep rumble as the driver accelerates through a normal right-hand turn in traffic.

Dropping a high-displacement naturally aspirated motor into the chassis makes the 2027 Corvette Stingray update a massive win for fans of traditional V8s. The upgraded exhaust components and high torque output give this generation serious and aggressive character. Hit the LSX socials and tell us what you think of the new LS6.
