PRI 2023: Cali Nate’s My Little Pony Mustang Makes Appearance At PRI

One of the cool things about the Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show is that there are surprises around every corner. For 2023, one of the surprises was seeing Cali Nate’s 1993 Ford Mustang on display. The well-known car was shined up and looked like it was going 150 mph even though it was sitting still. Also notable: It was Nate’s the Mustang’s first trip to the PRI show.

Cali Nate’s Mustang was hunkered down in the Frankenstein Engine Dynamics booth. This is fitting because the company is a sponsor of the car, and the car’s LS runs a Frankenstein intake and heads. Frankenstein, the company, is captained by Chris Frank, who has a long and illustrious career making horsepower. Today, Frankenstein Engine Dynamics offers a wide range of products including cylinder heads and billet intake manifolds. The company also performs porting services and offers accessories, among other things.

My Little Pony

Nate’s My Little Pony is a 1993 Ford Mustang that races small tire no-prep (among others). Nate and the car have created a strong following in a relatively short amount of time. It’s powered by a 427 cubic-inch aluminum Dart LS engine. Some of the engine’s mods include a Frankenstein-sourced Freakshow billet intake manifold and F710 heads. The engine is boosted via a Forced Inductions 107mm turbo. Other bits: a solid roller cam, Atomizer injectors, an Aeromotive fuel pump, and a Holley Dominator ECU.

The 1.58-ratio Powerglide routes power to a Dynamic Drivelines driveshaft, which in turn feeds the Merillat Racing 9-inch rearend. Weld Racing wheels grace the front, whereas the rear sports either Weld Racing or Keizer wheels. Wheel choice depends on what tire size he’s running.

It’s important to note that the car still uses the stock suspension. It’s also notable that this isn’t a tube chassis car. My Little Pony still has the stock firewall, floor pan, and so on.

Cali Nate’s Sponsors

Helping pay the bills are the My Little Pony sponsors: Frankenstein Engine Dynamics, Mel Hambelton Racing, Nitrous Express, Callies Performance Products, Energy Manufacturing, Dynamic Drivelines, Devils Glue, Fuel Injection Innovations, Blue Collar Collision & Glass, Novacek Automotive, Thomas Racing Service, Manning Steel, CO2 Solutions Marketing, 6sixty Street, and Limpy.
