One of the coolest things about the SEMA show is all of the special edition cars that you can see in one place. This particular special edition 5th Gen Camaro belongs to the folks at Magnaflow, and was built as a tribute to racing legend Mario Andretti. The car features some of the best aftermarket components available for these cars, and has many subtle details that set it apart from the crowd.
Even though the car is Chevrolet through and through, it picks up several styling cues from Ferrari to honor Andretti. Notice the very subtle red pinstripe along the exposed strip carbon fiber on the RK Sport hood, as well as the very detailed stitching pattern of the seats and interior panels. Finally, Magnaflow’s own dual 3 inch Competition Series exhaust with twin tips exit right in the center of the rear fascia to finish off the look. There are two companies that are making rear fascias for the center exit Magnaflow Competition exhaust (Street Scene and Unrestricted Motorsports), and best of all neither one has to be painted.
The Andretti Camaro has plenty of “go” to back up all that “show”. Under the hood lurks a Magnusson TVS2300 Supercharger that helps the LS3 produce 475 HP and 480 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. Making it all the more impressive is that the Camaro puts down that kind of power through Magnaflow cats, and is 100% California emissions street legal. An Eibach Pro Street suspension set up keeps the massive HRE 20×10 and 20×11 wheels planted, and a big-daddy Brembo Gran Turismo brake kit with 15 inch rotors hauls the car to a stop. All of that impressive equipment also gets put to good use by the guys at Magnaflow. They recently drove the car on Power Tour, and were getting set to take the car out to the Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge after SEMA ended (stay tuned to find out how the car performed…).
