SEMA 2017: Hellion Reveals First Ever Sixth-Gen Turbo Kit

When it comes to adding boost to your ride, there is a long line of bolt-on kits that you can install in your driveway in a weekend. Unfortunately, almost all of those kits have been superchargers up to this point. If you wanted to go turbo, you were forced to go the custom fabrication route. There were a few kits here and there, but they were far outside the norm. Hellion Power Systems is looking to change all of that with its new turbo kit for sixth-gen Camaros.

In fact, Hellion is the only company making a bolt-on turbo kit for the sixth-gen Camaro as of this writing. “We wanted these kits to be completely bolt on,” said John Urist, owner of Hellion. “No fabrication is necessary and none of the changes are irreversible. If you want to sell the car later, you can put the car back to stock without a problem.”

The kit comes with two Precision 6266 turbos capable of supporting up to 1,200 horsepower. However, the basic kit comes ready to produce 6 pounds of boost. And while that may not seem like a lot, this will allow an LT1 Camaro to make more than 600 rear-wheel horsepower and more than 650 lb-ft of torque. From there, the kits can be bolstered with an e-Boost II boost controller from Turbosmart to take the kit even further.

And unlike other kits, Hellion’s comes with premium materials and coatings standard. You get ceramic coated charge pipes, a 1,200 horsepower capable front-mount intercooler, and DEI turbo blankets without checking another option box. However, if you do want to take the kit even further, several turbo upgrade options, as well as a sheet-metal intake option, are available.

John tells us that most capable mechanics should be able to install this in their own garage over a weekend with no fabrication necessary and with only basic hand tools. So, if you’ve been dreaming of twin turbos but have been scared away by all of the fabrication typically required, your prayers have been answered.
