With everything that’s going on in the world right now, a lot of people have extra time on their hands. And while some choose to binge-watch Netflix trying to figure out the obsession with The Tiger King, others are busy in their garage working on cars and other projects.

Brian King, the owner of the internet-famous ProCharged AWD Cutlass, is a great example of what can be accomplished with some downtime in the garage. While one might expect that he would be wrenching on his Procharged burnout machine, he started another project instead, an LS engine build. But, this is not just any LS engine. The block, heads, valve covers, and oil pan are made of Plexiglass.

King told us in our previous story; he thought it would be cool to have an LS engine on display that showed off the internals as the unit rotated. With that thought, he headed out to the garage, where he fabricated and built the entire project. With all of the parts and pieces cut and fitted, in the second video King starts the assembly process.

The first step was to build the block to house the rotating assembly. With the top of the block cut out, King epoxies the cylinders into the top of the block. His next move is to machine the top section of a block of Plexiglass to house the lifters. To do this, King uses a lathe and mill to drill all of the necessary holes needed before attaching it to the front and rear of the block around the rotating assembly.

King walks us through the entire build with an awesome time-lapse until he finishes the project while he drills, glues, and bolts the engine together. With everything in place, King then fills the engine up with four-quarts of Driven Racing Oil before finally spinning the unit up.

It’s pretty satisfying to watch this engine come to life with everything rotating and moving. A bonus is the led light show at the end of the video replicating the spark plugs firing. While we don’t have the patience or skills to build an engine out of Plexiglass, we can’t help but think this is a much better use of time than watching that Tiger show on Netflix.
