Earlier this year, Internet sleuths uncovered a secret GM was hoping to keep under wraps for some time. While the General had hinted that it would soon replace the Chevy Impala Sprint Cup Car, they didn’t say with what until clues pointed to a vehicle called the Chevy SS sedan. GM eventually came clean revealing the above camouflaged picture of this new car.

Now comes word from SPEED TV that as soon as late November, GM could unveil the Chevrolet SS Sprint Cup Car…and offer hints at what the production model will look like. Is GM really ready to tip its hand?

The SPEED TV report says that GM will unveil the Chevy SS Sprint Cup Car November 29th at the Wynn Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. That is Thanksgiving of all days, certainly odd timing to unveil a new NASCAR racer, though other major automakers including Ford have already debuted their Sprint Cup competitors.

November 29th is also just before the start of the LA Auto Show. Why not just wait until then for the official unveiling? Most auto enthusiasts already know that the Chevy SS will be based on the Holden Commodore, a front-engine, rear-drive, LS powered performance sedan. Our guess is that GM could be waiting until the Detroit Auto Show to show off a production version of the Chevy SS, or maybe the timing will correlate with the LA Auto Show reveal.

All we know is that we can’t wait to see what GM has done to the Commodore to turn it into a Chevy.
