The wild and crazy world of racing is often forgotten beyond the dragstrip and oval tracks in this country. All the while a form of racing that has been around as long as man has had a desire for top speed. From the Bonneville Salt Flats to the Ohio Mile the land speed racing circuit is alive and well with cars all of makes, models and some that may not be easily identifiable. Pushing the limits of speed has become quite common, and one perfect example of the types of cars competing is the “Record Hunter” Z06 from Hinson Motorsports we showed you back in July.
The “Record Hunter” Z06 has been prepared for events such as the Ohio Mile, with a 427 LSX and a 118mm Precision Turbocharger which makes enough horsepower to break the 250mph range. Since July when we originally brought you the feature on this car we came across a cool video from the Holley LS Fest where the Hinson Motorsports crew unleashed the power of their Corvette on the Midwest Mobile Dyno. Unfortunately on the dyno the Corvette was experiencing some problems and could only make pulls in low boost conditions. Still at low boost they turned 987 horsepower at the wheels, and sounds like a fighter jet that’s about to take off. Not bad at all for a car that’s having some issues, if you ask us.
