Mobil 1 The Grid has an interesting video on Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin, who teams up this year with Jan Magnussen and Richard Westbrook in the #4 C6.R Corvette. Many thanks to Keith Cornett over at Corvette Blogger, where we first saw the interview.
In a portion of the video, Gavin talks about his marathon running training and how it helps him with endurance racing. He was a successful kart racer in England before turning to cars in 1990, and Gavin has been a regular participant in the London Marathon, completing the run in two hours, fifty-four minutes and nineteen seconds. He also uses the event for charity fund raising and has raised more than £85,000 to date.
Gavin and the rest of the Corvette Racing team are at Sebring, Florida, in preparation for this weekend’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. The half day event begins at 10:00 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 19th. The race will be shown live on ESPN3 and americanlemans.com starting at that time. ABC will televise race highlights from 12:30 to 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, March 20.
