The Camaro is one of the best-known cars in America’s lineup, and literally millions of these bowie-wearing machines have been built. There’s a Camaro of some kind in literally every corner of the country, and in some places, people are more inclined to driving off the road, as opposed to on it. But they still like that classic Camaro shape. What’s a wrench monkey to do?
Why, you build a Trar, a car sitting on a truck body. Sure, it’s not the most traditional father-son project car, but it is the subject of Coleman Anderson’s short film, 4×4 Camaro, found by the Dallas Observer.
The two Vroon men, father Jerry and son Donny, are not your average gearheads. You can tell from the brief interview that both father and son are a little off. Jerry was apparently a stripper in the 80’s, to give you an idea of the kind of people you’re dealing with. But you’ve got to give them credit, because if GM ever made a lifted 4×4 Camaro in the 90’s, you can bet it would have looked like this. On top of it, it can actually go muddin’ pretty convincingly. Hell, it looks downright effective.
Oversized tires? Check. Double antennas on the rear bumper? Check. CB Radio? You betcha. The Camaro body just “sat right down” on a four-door Chevy Blazer frame, and it looks pretty clean from what we see in the video. We’re not sure what the Camaro’s got for an engine or transmission, and we could be wrong, but we think that’s a stock Blazer motor (but correct us if we’re wrong, we really don’t have a clue and there’s only one shot of it at about 1:24 into the video). It’s a strange car, and we’re sure it rubs some people the wrong way, but that doesn’t bother the Vroon men. They are quite the pair, and the father is especially entertaining, as you can imagine. It should keep you entertained for at least a few minutes today. Enjoy!
