The growing availability of affordable video cameras and editing software has released the creative energy of everyman to present his own productions to the world. Some of what comes out as a result isn’t actually half bad and things have improved mightily since the would-be Francis Ford Coppola’s of the world have figured out what tripods are for.
I’ll have to admit that I wouldn’t mind trying this particular production for myself, but alas being more than 3,000 miles away from the Bay area slows me down a bit. Not so for this intrepid Camaro owner who spent some time with a GoPro mini-camera on his car while in the Bay area.
Mixing in some music and footage from the original Bullitt movie, he’s followed portions of the original route through San Francisco and put the Camaro in place of the original 1968 Dodge Charger. The effort made is not a simple ‘run and gun’ approach and there was plenty of planning that went into gathering some unique footage for the job.
OK, so there’s some gratuitous vacation footage from Fisherman’s Wharf and Alcatraz Island, but that’s all part of being there, right? When you can show us your version that’s a lot better, we’re ready for it. This video is a lot better than a good portion of what you’ve watched on YouTube before, so go ahead, relax and enjoy a new interpretation.
