You know what they say, “If you can’t dodge it, Ram it.” Well, we say if you really want to Ram it, just add some nitrous. Last summer we showed you a cool video of Brad Kimbler’s LS1 swapped Dodge Ram running low 14’s, and we’re happy to report that in the past year the brand-disloyal hauler has gotten even quicker, as proven by the video above.
Kimbler’s 1988 Dodge Ram is powered by a quintessential LS1 backed by a trusty 4L60E transmission. Kimbler has kept the performance modifications as simple as possible, with the video only citing a 3600 stall torque converter, a set of long tube headers, and a custom exhaust system. Oh, and then there’s the new 75 shot of nitrous – which purges directly out of the Ram hood ornament’s nostrils. So very, very awesome.
As Kimbler pulls up to the water box at Gateway Motorsports Park outside of St. Louis, Missouri, we can see that the Ram is still sporting all its 4×4 guts, but is only running on the rear wheels at the drag strip. Then, with a feat of acceleration that shouldn’t be possible in something so boxy and un-aerodynamic, Kimbler’s Ram busts out an ET of 12.93 at 105.46 MPH while handily beating what we assume is a stock 4th Gen in the left lane. Just goes to show that “quick” can come in all shapes and sizes.
