Yesterday, we brought you the clearest spy shots of the ZR1 yet – finally, all the exterior bits we’ve been viewing through a blurry mask, we can check out with no problem. As we guessed, the revised front fascia, gigantic rear wing, and overall stance match right up with the looks of Z06X Corvette concept car from 2010.

The pictures lock down the exterior of the upcoming ZR1, but what will be residing under the hood still remains a mystery. Luckily, Stateside Supercars has brought us two new crystal clear videos to go along with these awesome photos – one with some pretty spot on audio.

In the snowy video, we didn’t seem to hear any forced induction going on, but the second video is a completely different story. You can definitely hear the supercharger whining under the bulging new hood of the ZR1–especially on the car with the red mirrors. If you can remember, last year, Chevy leaked some documents showing an LT5, that the ZR1 seems like a perfect home for, coming for the 2018 model year.

While it is obvious from the videos that the car will come with a roots-style blower (most likely an Eaton R2650), whether or not the LT5 will have two valves per cylinder or four is yet to be determined. We’re leaning towards no, but you never know. We think GM might hold onto that one for the C8.

We may not solve this mystery for certain until its debut. While a specific release date has not been provided, Car and Driver says the ZR1 is coming this August, at the IMSA Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.

To us, these shots hint that the car is extremely close to completion; and we think we are roughly 120 days out from the reveal. Nonetheless, more details should surface as we get closer to that date. An insider at the track even claimed once tuning is complete, Chevy will gladly release the official lap times.

One thing is for sure, though: this thing’s release date can’t come fast enough. In the meantime, these teasers will have to do.
