Can You Eat In A Racecar? See The Hilarious Answer!

We’re not sure why you’d ever want to snack in your racecar during a lick down the dragstrip, but just in case you’ve ever wondered if it’s possible, these guys have put the idea to the test.

John “John Doc” Dougherty, operator of Nasty Racing and the LS Nasty social media channels, and his good friend Phillip Waite of Black Built Performance, recently saddled up in Dougherty’s Mustang street car for a lick at the Darlington Dragway, and they brought lunch.

How did it go? That depends on whether you’re a viewer on the outside, or you’re Waite.

Dougherty says he built the Mustang to do ride-alongs just like these. The car features a 408 cubic inch TKM Black Sheep stage 1 iron-block LS engine package, FIS turbos, a Holley Terminator ECU, and a rear-mount radiator so it “looks like a racecar, but it’s not,” he laughs. “We have the car turned down when we do ride-alongs, and it runs 5.30s at 135 with 1.25 60-foot times like a bracket car. Phil is a longtime friend and we always have a blast on camera, so I knew it would be perfect for this video!”

“We have been doing a number of ride-alongs with friend and employees, trying to give people a perspective on how fast even the street cars are. We have a Pro Mod car, a Pro 275 car, Limited Drag Radial car, and a couple ASAG (all-steel, all-glass) cars that we film with almost daily on my John Doc YouTube channel. This car was built to give some viewers a chance to see what it’s like to feel the G-forces in the 60-foot and go 130-140 mph in just five seconds. We have a second car at Cameron Johnson Race Cars getting finished up that is built for ride-alongs also, but that has a big-block and screw blower and should be able to go bottom fours with someone in the passenger seat,” Dougherty says.
