A Violent Garage-Built Twin-Turbo ’65 Chevelle Tire Shredder

It’s rare to find a car that perfectly balances professional-level quality with the raw, unfiltered soul of a true garage build. Anthony’s twin-turbo ’65 Chevelle is one of those rare exceptions. The owner built this machine almost entirely himself, giving it the power and finish to rival any top-tier shop.

Why This Twin-turbo ’65 Chevelle Is A Beast

The core of the build is a twin-turbocharged LS engine. “It’s a forged LS2 Texas speed internals, forged rods, crank and pistons, LS3 heads, I got a BTR intake, BTR stage 2 twin-turbo cam, and two 66 mil turbos,” owner Anthony explained. The combination is brutally effective. When asked about the power, he stated, “Last time I dynoed, I made like 920 to the rear.” A built T-56 Magnum six-speed manual and a stout Ford 9-inch rearend send that power to the wheels.

A Professional Garage Build

What makes that power number so impressive is where it was built. “In my garage. Everything I did on this car except for the short block,” Anthony confirmed. The incredible finish, a color from a Porsche GT3, is also his handiwork. “Actually, my first trade out of high school was paint body,” he revealed. The quality of the work was not lost on host Shawn Davis of Autotopia LA. “This is the epitome, actually, of garage-built because it does not look like a garage-built car,” Davis said.

Chassis, Suspension, And Soul

The car is far more than just an engine. A 10-point cage tied directly into the stock frame massively stiffens it, and the suspension is a full Viking double-adjustable coilover setup. This attention to detail creates a car with real character, a quality Davis praised. “I don’t want a classic car performance-based. I don’t want it to be overly refined. No, I just don’t. It loses its soul,” he said.

A True Driver’s Car

Ultimately, the owner built this twin-turbo ’65 Chevelle with a clear purpose: to actually use it. It’s a brutal street machine, but it’s also a family cruiser. The owner regularly puts a car seat in the back for his daughter and even takes it on trips to the grocery store. This dual-purpose nature is what makes the car so special. It has the comfort for a family cruise, but a quick push of the throttle unleashes a violent, tire-shredding beast, making it the perfect example of a modern restomod that the owner truly drives and enjoys.
