Typically, you can’t have your cake and eat it too, but don’t tell that to Bob Hall. He will certainly prove you wrong. You see, Hall’s ‘68 Camaro SS was recently featured on Michael Musto’s DRIVE feature Big Muscle, which is quite fitting considering that the old pony car has been equipped with a modern supercharged LSA engine out of a Cadillac CTS-V. Check out the DRIVE feature above, compliments of Jalopnik.
Pro-touring cars seem to be popping up everywhere, but we haven’t seen one yet that was done quite like Hall’s Camaro SS convertible. With the supercharged LSA from a wrecked CTS-V under the hood, the car is pushing 648hp to the wheels and 650 pound feet of torque. Aside from a smaller pulley in the supercharger and a spacer put in the intercooler, the engine is essentially stock, and yet produces well over what the new ZL1 offers.
Along with the LSA, Hall equipped the Camaro with six-piston Baer brakes, a T56 transmission, 18-inch wheels and a full Hotchkis suspension system. Hall to not only built his dream car, but also a car that he can enjoy with his wife and grandkids. The three-year build is topped off with carbon fiber accents and Recaro seats in the interior, and a classic black and white paint scheme.
What’s more impressive than the build itself, is the fact that despite having many modern performance features the Camaro maintains its original muscle car personality. It may not be the kind of thing for the muscle car purists of the world, but we’re sure an absolute thrill to drive.
Crank up your speakers on this one, because the sounds of Hall’s Camaro are not to be missed. Just try not to drool on your keyboard too much. You wouldn’t want to short out your computer before you get the full experience of that supercharger whine mixed with exhaust-note heaven.
