First ’13 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder Spotted at Cars and Coffee Event

On paper, the 2013 Hennessey Venom GT Spyder may sound like the ultimate supercar, and it’s got the price to match it’s performance. Truthfully, few people are able to afford the $1.1 million price tag of this car. However, it’s apparently not an issue for Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler. As we found out from Autoholics, Tyler’s recently ordered ‘13 Venom GT was spotted at the Irvine, California Cars and Coffee event this past weekend with CNCPics grabbing a few nice shots of the first Venom GT Spyder to hit the ground running. Built specifically for Tyler, we’re sure the Venom GT is right at home among the superstar’s collection of fast toys.

For those of you unfamiliar with the up-and-coming supercar, the Venom GT Spyder comes with a GM 6.2L twin-turbocharged LS9 engine strapped to a modified Lotus Exige chassis. The engine can be set for three different horsepower ratings depending on what you want to do with the car. For those individuals looking for some fun without going completely crazy, the engine offers a 800 horsepower punch, while 1,000 horsepower and 1,200 horsepower options are available. On the 1,200 horsepower setting, the all-aluminum LS9 is capable of producing 1,155 pound feet of torque. Talk about being thrown back in your seat.

With the engine matted to a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission, the Venom GT Spyder will do 0 to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds, while a 0 to 200 MPH pass takes only 15.3 seconds. That’s almost a full 9 seconds faster than the 0 to 200 MPH time of the Bugatti Veyron.

While much of the Venom GT’s capabilities are made possible due to the car’s massive Garrett Ball Bearing Turbochargers, part of it also has to do with weight savings.

With a complete carbon fiber composite body, except for the roof and the doors, the car only weighs 2,685lbs. You can bet that the KW Variant Triple Adjustable Coilover suspension and Michelin Pilot Sport tires are working extra hard to keep the light-weight Venom GT planted to the ground, while Brembo 6-piston calipers and Carbon Ceramic rotors make stopping the beast possible.

While we don’t know if Tyler was at the Cars and Coffee event, we’re sure the Venom GT Spyder attracted plenty of attention on its own at. It is, after all, one of the most potent semi-production LS-based car we know of. Check it out in the video below being dyno-tested by Hennessey.
