The 2012 Camaro ZL1 is one of the most powerful Bowtie-badged vehicles in GM’s history. It has created quite a stir among muscle car fans and enthusiasts beyond mere brand loyalty. With 580 horsepower and 556 ft-lbs of torque, the supercharged 6.2 liter V8 can cause quite a ruckus, especially for a good cause.

Late last week, a brand new Camaro ZL1 crossed the Barrett-Jackson auction block to benefit the YMCA of Southern Nevada. As the official pace car of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, it has been painted in a special pace car livery with “Maple Leaf” striping. It has already been sold, and for nearly twice what it costs from the dealership.

Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, formerly known as Mosport, is for some reason raising money for the YMCA of Southern Nevada. And who are we to argue? This 2012 ZL1 has a few things going for it, beyond the 580 horsepower. The Pace Car livery is entirely unique to this Camaro, and its the first ZL1 to be painted in Imperial Blue Metallic, so you’ll stick out at car shows for sure…as though owning a Camaro ZL1 didn’t stick out enough. This is one of four Camaro ZL1 Pace cars, which is sure to carry some extra value down the road.

The Camaro has already crossed the auction block, and it brought $100,000. With an MSRP of $54,350, that is almost twice what the car would cost from the dealership. Something about giving to a good cause can pry open the wallet of a Camaro fan a little farther. Hopefully the new owner plans to take a road trip from Nevada to Canada, to take a run around his (or her?) new Camaro around its namesake track.
