GM has yet to formally unveil the 2012 Camaro Convertible, though we’ve finally gotten to see some official images from the General. GM has also auctioned off the second production convertible for $205,000 (the first car going into their Heritage Collection). So it was only a matter of time before the aftermarket leapt into the Camaro convertible fray.
Camaro5 reports that Neiman Marcus, a high-end luxury retailer, has released their 2010 holiday catalog. For the first time ever, the catalog is selling a special-edition Chevrolet; the 2011 Neiman Marcus Edition Camaro Convertible.
Neiman Marcus has offered a wide variety of special edition cars through its catalog before. In 1970 it offered “His” and “Hers” versions of the Ford Thunderbird, though since then it has mostly been a long list of BMWs, Lexus, and Maseratis. The closest a Chevy car ever made it to the Neiman Marcus catalog was the 2002 Cadillac XLR (which was based on the Chevy Corvette).
So it is a big first that a Chevy has finally found its way into the pages of this prestigious catalog. Last year’s 2010 Jaguar XJL sold through Neiman Marcus sold out in just 24 hours. The Camaro Convertible gets a special Deep Bordeaux Tri-Coat exterior color (carrying on the tradition of special colors for Neiman cars). It also gets rally stripes, 21-inch wheels with red flare accents, and an amber leather-appointed interior with red stitching. Just 100 of these special Camaros will be built and they go on sale starting Tuesday, October 19th at noon. Expect them to sell out fast, even at the $75,000 asking price.
The only question we have: Will they be delivered on Christmas Day?
