More of a good thing is always a good thing – and more horsepower is a very, very good thing. Any way you slice it, the LS3 in the 5^th Gen Camaro is one of the most simple mills around to mod and extract copious amounts of horsepower – especially with all the bolt on supercharger options.

The 2012 Camaro SS featured in this video belongs to a gent named Chris Coatsworth, and the car actually started life as with an L99 and 6L80E automatic trans. Coatsworth eventually had a slightly more powerful LS3 swapped in – but even 426 horsepower proved to not be enough. Beyond the engine swap, this 5^th Gen seems like a nice but typical example of most new Camaros out there – sporting bolt-ons like a set of long-tubes from Kooks Custom Headers, some high-flow cats, and an aftermarket cam.

When regular bolt-ons just wouldn’t suffice any more, Coatsworth decided it was time to turn up the heat with a Magnuson supercharger, and luckily for us we get to watch the basic process of the install as well as dyno tuning for maximum power. According to the video caption, Coatsworth’s SS made a very respectable 440 rear wheel horsepower before the Maggie install. However, after the supercharger was bolted on, the Camaro turned the drums to the tune of 585 rear wheel horsepower thanks to an additional 10 pounds of atmosphere. In the end, a gain of 145 rear wheel horsepower can speak for itself.
