Quite a departure from the photo above, this rendering depicts a different direction for the next Camaro.
Over the last few years, we’ve been beaten over the head with renderings depicting what the next Corvette could look like. Thankfully, now that the 2014 Vette is just a few days from being unveiled, we can finally move on from the C7 and turn our attention back to the Camaro.
Let’s face it, the basic design for the current Chevy pony car has been around since 2006. Despite the fact that we particularly love the ZL1, 1LE, and the now rumored LS7-powered variant set to release next year, we’re ready for a change. We’re ahead in sales against the Mustang and the Challenger, but we need to make sure we stay there.
Many other enthusiasts feel the same way, and over the summer at the 2012 Interactive Design Competition many sketches of what could be the next generation of Camaro turned up – many of which were submitted from students of the College of Creative Studies.
The sketches range from highly unlikely, to quite possible. With a mix of futuristic, but retro-based styling with a ZL1 badge attached, to a mash of first- and 3rd-generation styling coming together for a very modern update, we’re seeing some things we like.
We even see the return of the classic red/white/blue Camaro emblem – a badge that hasn’t been seen since 2002. This time around, it’s been given a very modern twist with what looks like either miniature LED lights or reflective stripes in the badge, representing the American flag.
Truth be told, we have no clue what the 2015 Camaro is going to look like. These renderings merely depict what’s possible. We would like to thank our friends over at GM Authority for the tip.
