While cruising the coverage on the web of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, we came across a couple different mentions of the “SIN” supercar on display there. Built by Germany’s SIN CARS GmbH, the SIN follows what is turning out to be a common pattern: Wrap swoopy bodywork around a carbon composite tub and tubular spaceframe, then instead of spending a metric ton of 500-Euro notes developing your own engine, go with a proven crate motor that delivers excellent reliability and plenty of grunt – no, we’re not looking at you, BMW!
No, SIN chose to use the hottest thing in bespoke European supercar power, the tried and true LS in the form of an LS3 crate engine. As installed in the SIN, it’s spec’ed out at 518 horsepower, and when those ponies only have to propel 2,645 pounds of curb weight, performance is best described as “zippy.” 0-100 km/h (0-62 MPH in God-fearing American units of measure) goes by in 2.5 seconds and the car has a nice, round claimed top speed of 200 MPH (321.869 km/h in effete, Gauloises-smoking crypto-socialist Metric units.)

While we couldn’t dig up any information on pricing, suffice it to say that it will undoubtedly fall into the “If you have to ask, you can’t afford it” category. So, does the world really need another exotic? Probably not, but as long as people keep putting LS engines in them, we’re behind the trend 100%.
