These days, e-commerce sites like eBay and Craigslist are a haven for anything and everything that one could possibly fathom purchasing. In our travels on said sites, we often stumble upon unique LS-powered vehicles. The poster of this Craigslist ad even goes as far as stating that you probably won’t find any other completed LS2 conversion quite like this one. From the truly limited amount of Chevy-swapped MKIV Supras we’ve seen floating around, he’s almost entirely safe saying that.
While the LS2 won’t make 1,000 horsepower on the dyno in its current form (like every Supra known to man does, or so the fanboys say), it will certainly have its advantages over the original Toyota power plant. Don’t get us wrong, even at 458 HP to the rear wheels, the car is certainly no pushover.
It’s also a pretty sizeable step up as the replacement of what we assume was a turbo inline 6, even more so if it was a naturally aspirated base model Supra. As we all know, both engines hold gobs untapped potential at the ready. Seeing an LS engine in this icon, though, makes us giddier than school girls on a sugar rush.
Perhaps our favorite part of the idea of owning a Chevy-powered Supra is the probable responses that Toyota fanboys will give in reaction to what lies under the hood. While this guy probably gets more hate than an LSX in a Ford (yeah that’s actually possible) we think that this LS2/T56 combo is totally worth the time and labor that went into the ‘yota. The $30k asking price may be a little higher than the market will bear, but the purchase of this ride comes with the guarantee of turned heads everywhere you go!
