Rock and roll has always been important to the American car culture. Innumerable ballads have been written about driving the open road, and whole songs have been devoted to a particular car. Many rock legends are enthusiastic car fans as well, and with fame and fortune comes a veritable treasure trove of awesome automobiles.

Over at Camaro5, a forum member attended rock legend Kid Rock’s 40^th birthday party at (of all places) Ford Field. After an epic concert, a specially-designed Camaro SS just for Kid Rock was unveiled in truck rock and roll fashion.

Few rockers embody America the way Kid Rock does. Born in Detroit, Kid Rock (born Robert Ritchie) grew up wanting to be a star. He has successfully blended rap and rock in his music and has multiple platinum albums under his belt. He appropriately calls himself the “American Badass,” and despite his enviable wealth, still calls Detroit home. That is why he had his 40^th birthday concert at Ford Field… where he received as a gift, a Chevy Camaro.

The Camaro SS was revealed after NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson popped on the jumbo-tron to wish Rock a happy birthday. Then the car was lifted into the air on a pedestal and unveiled. In addition to the flat-black paint job and broad number 40 painted on the side, “Made in Detroit” was on the rear window and the fuel filler door, custom black wheels, and the American Badass logo was emblazoned on the hood. While we’re sure Rock could afford all the Camaros he wants, we bet this car will hold a special place in his heart.
