SEMA 2014: Chevrolet Performance Shows Their Vision for 2015

As we rolled into Las Vegas, NV to attend the 2014 SEMA show, we began to feel the electricity in the air around the convention center. While we still have much to look forward to through the coming days, we got our first glimpse into the GM world with a few 2015 special edition vehicles along with a few other surprises.

Corvette Online was invited to the Monday night event with Chevrolet, in which multiple Chevy higher-ups took turns unveiling a few cars from the 2015 lineup. Among these cars were four Corvettes, that we got to see firsthand.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1The first was the fully resorted and back in action, “Blue Devil” from the NCM sinkhole disaster, remarkably the accompanying video showed that even after the earth tried to swallow the ZR1, the car still started upon removal from the hole. She will be returning to the National Corvette Museum once SEMA is complete.

The second car to grace our presence was the 2015 Z06 convertible shown in blue as it often has been in GM’s pictures. While we certainly are looking forward to a chance to this car, the next two Vettes were a bit more unexpected.

The first, was a Stingray that had been restyled with the help of KISS member, Paul Stanley. The car came out quite nicely with the silver top, separated by a thick black stripe, matching the silver grill and side mirrors. The wheels were done in a black metallic and the logos over the rear fenders done in a darker tone of red.
The Stingray was fitted with a new cream-colored leather interior, accented with a tall diamond pattern in the seat stitching.

The last car debuted was NASCAR driver, Jimmy Johnson’s, personal project, a 1971 Corvette Stingray. His vision was to make a great C3 car that looks almost stock on the outside aside from a few styling updates, but has the brakes, driveline, and motor of a new more modern car. Along with giant brakes and suspension components, they fitted the ’71 with a new LT1 crate motor, which is now available to the public through Chevrolet Performance.
