For the past two years, Blackdog Speed Shop has won back-to-back Pirelli World Challenge team championships with their two-car ZL1 Camaro effort, but now, it’s time for a change.
This year, Blackdog Speed Shop will bring out two freshly-built Camaro Z/28.Rs to campaign in the 2015 Pirelli World Challenge season, but ultimately to defend their GTS class championship. “We’ve been working this offseason to build two new race cars, switching from the Camaro ZL1 platform to the new Camaro Z/28.R,” stated Team Manager Ray Sorenson. “We completed some of the development late last season and hope that we’re ready for the competition level that is certain to make this year one of the best seasons ever in PWC!”
Due to conflict of scheduling with The Continental Tire Series, Lawson Aschenbach will not be driving with Blackdog Speed Shop this season. To fill the void, Blackdog Speed Shop brought on 2012 PWC champion, Michael Cooper, to drive the No. 10 Camaro Z/28.R alongside Tony Gaples in the No. 11 Camaro Z/28.R. “I’m excited to be given the opportunity to represent Blackdog Speed Shop with the new Camaro Z/28.R in the PWC, “ said Cooper. “I’m looking forward to demonstrating the performance of the new Camaro in the battle to win my second PWC Championship.”
The Blackdog Speed Shop team will also be debuting a new livery as well, so keep your eyes peeled for that. For those that can’t make it to any of the races, CBS Sports will be broadcasting the races along with the live feed at world-challengetv.com.
