Ever wanted to see a Prius Hybrid and an LS1 Z28 street race? Most people haven’t, but thanks to YouTube, you can see this unlikely race and its unlikely results. If you were to tell an f-body fan that a modified Prius could beat a Z28 in a race, you’d probably get many reactions of disbelief. However, one YouTube video seems to show that not only is it possible, but easy for a modified Prius to beat out a Z28 in a rolling street race.

Maybe it’s the skepticism of yours truly as an F-body owner, or just an observation of how fake the video looks, but the outcome of the race seems very set up. For one, the person filming and dissing on the LS1 driver is actually riding in the Z28. Based on the amateur video taken at night, it is hard to determine if the Z28 is even accelerating. The Prius seems to have no problem pulling away at a fast rate of speed from the LS1. Only one engine is heard revving up in the video. One would imagine that even a significantly modified Prius Hybrid would be able to be heard when launching and pulling away from a Z28.

If in fact this modified Prius can, and has, beaten an LS1 Z28, it would beg the question of what has been done to the car, or how much nitrous was used. There would have to be some serious modifications done to a Prius that comes stock with about 100 horsepower in order for it to beat an LS1 that comes with 305 horsepower from the factory. The best bet is the video is a fake. If not, it seems that F-body owners better mind their P’s and Q’s around at least this particular eco-friendly import.
