A series of heists involving power tools, trailers, car parts, and cars including a Camaro ZL1 around Oregon City, Oregon has finally been put to an end. According to OregonLive.com, the two suspects, Jason V. Strowbridge and Chris Hamblen were caught two weeks apart. Hamblen was caught two weeks ago when Clackamas County deputies and Canby police officers traced a stolen pick up truck to his house. The truck had been spotted being used in several Canby-area thefts and was also seen at Strowbridge’s home.
Strowbridge was caught two weeks later when his mother tipped the authorities off that he had a stolen pressure washer, chain saws, two trailers and a motor, transmission, and frame belong to a Toyota truck. His biggest score was a 2015 Camaro ZL1 which was lifted from a local credit company. Strowbridge knew what he was targeting, as the Camaro ZL1 is $68,000 worth of muscle.
While there’s no word on what the alleged thieves’ plans were for the Camaro, but the LSA powerplant by itself is worth more than ten grand, and body parts and other components unique to the ZL1 are popular upgrades for owners of other, lesser Camaros. Seeing the poor, stripped-to-the-bone Toyota leads us to believe a similar fate was narrowly avoided for the Camaro.
Thankfully these two have been caught and will hopefully receive the justice they deserve.
