The Boy Scouts of America are known for their integrity, outdoor knowledge and good deeds. Though there’s no such thing as a Car Salesman merit badge (as far as we know), a group of Cub Scouts took their motto, “Do Your Best” to heart when given the opportunity to audition for the role of TV spokesperson for the new Camaro. While the young boys made it clear that they knew more about pinewood derby cars than pony cars, they managed to do a fairly good job promoting the Chevy and even emulating a car salesman. Thanks to a recently released YouTube video, we can all see what these youngsters had to say about the Camaro.
The Cerrone GM dealership in South Attleboro, Massachusetts hosted the local Pinewood Derby this year. At this event, the dealership gave Cub Scouts the chance to promote the 2011 Camaro in a mock commercial. The scouts were supposed to act like Al Cerrone, the dealership’s owner, and advertise the car in a manner that would make consumers interested in buying it.
As you might expect, the video is rather funny. While the youngsters try their best to promote the Camaro, many of them can’t even get the name of the car correct, let alone get any vital information across. Numerous Scouts try their hand at the commercial, taking turns playing the role of Al Cerrone while the others fill in as background extras. One young lad definitely took the cake when it came to accuracy of his portrayal and information given. The young man, only known to us as Jake, is able to remember the type of engine, horsepower, the general price of the vehicle and even that the car has a warranty.
While we’re not sure if the young Scouts will actually be part of a commercial for the dealership, it looks like they all had fun filming- well, except for one. Maybe one day this experience will turn some of the Scouts into Chevy Camaro fans. For now, however, maybe it’s best that they stick with the wooden car variety.
