Whether you’re doing an LS swap or outfitting an already LS-equipped vehicle with a new or upgraded engine, at some point you must make a decision regarding the engine oil pan. Fortunately in either scenario Moroso Performance has you covered. The video above is a brief overview of some of the LS engine oil pan offerings from Moroso.
Moroso has developed all of these LS oil pans from the ground up as a clean sheet design. Since the LS engine architecture utilizes a skirted block, there’s a bit more latitude in design parameters for something like an oil pan. This is because the crank and rods don’t protrude deep into the pan, meaning there’s less of these parts to take into consideration during the design process.
Moroso has designed its LS engine oil pans to offer clearance for headers and cross members, and even has pans that utilize a kick out design for better ground clearance while retaining capacity. Trap doors, baffling, and other methods to keep oil located around the sump are utilized wherever the design dictates necessary.
Another very cool and important feature of many Moroso LS engine oil pans is the billet oil filter adapter. This is a Moroso made part that is machined to work with and is already installed on Moroso LS oil pans. This adapter retains the OEM oil filter location and allows for the use of a OEM style LS engine oil filter. This makes it that much easier for enthusiasts to get a filter at their local parts stores, and helps retain reliability by utilizing the filter location as intended by the GM engineers who designed the engine.
So whether you’re swapping an LS into your project car, or building a new engine for next race season, Moroso has you covered for your oil pan options.
