As any die-hard Corvette enthusiast knows, Lingenfelter is at the tip of the spear when it comes to amping up Corvette performance. The company has a more than 40 year long, highly-esteemed history working to perfect performance over a number of different vehicles, and has been working with America’s sports car since its 4th generation. From engine building and tuning, to product development, to full-blown prototype car inception – Lingenfelter’s done it all, and done it better than most.
When it was first released, the C7 took the automotive world by storm with its unprecedented level of power and aggression. While many were still soaking in what this new breed of Corvette had to offer, Lingenfelter was wasting no time in trying to take it even further. Clearly they’ve never heard the old adage “less is more”, as they now have a number of performance packages for the ’14-’15 Stingray and ’15 Z06 – one even shooting the Stingray up to 1000 ponies.
But until recently, Lingenfelter had only one kit for the Z06. Now, however, they’ve developed a second – pushing the envelope just a little further. This new package utilizes the Z06’s 6.2-liter LT4 and factory 1.7-liter blower, but thanks to Lingenfelter’s typical precision engineering and quality, it pushes 100 horsepower more than the stock 650.
Making this jump possible, the kit includes Lingenfelter’s own ported heads, custom camshafts and headers, an LT1/LT4-compatible dry sump damper, a 9.2-inch 15% overdrive supercharger pulley and drive belt, a 100-millimeter idler pulley kit, high-flow air filter, and a performance thermostat rated at 170-degrees. And of course, the signature Lingenfelter branding is included, as well.
The company boasts that this stage-2 kit offers increased horsepower and torque across the entire power band – also greatly improving throttle response – yet still maintains the Z06’s tractable composure. Once it starts reaching ‘Vettes, we can expect to see some extraordinary performance from the already-prodigious Z06.
