Memorial Day weekend is an important time in America, as we gather to celebrate the unsung heroes of our nation’s military as well as the fire, police, and EMT workers who help keep daily life civilized, as well as a reminder that freedom isn’t free. There are many ways to thank these brave men and women, whether it be a simple handshake or a three-day long BBQ with the best ribs and beer money can buy.
Another option? Build a custom Camaro tribute car to honor the fallen. Camaro5 members had a hand in building the “Angel Camaro 1,” a car built by the “Fueled by the Fallen” organization as a tribute to all the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11.
Though the new Camaro has only been on the market for a couple of years now, we’ve already seen quite a few tribute cars dedicated to the best and bravest citizens America has to offer. It is a great way to attract money and attention towards a worthy cause, and while we’re approaching the 10th anniversary of 9/11, for many the wounds remain open (though killing bin Laden probably helped out more than a few people.)
The Angel Camaro 1 isn’t the typical Camaro we feature on here; it doesn’t have a supercharger or an insane amount of horsepower or an attention-grabbing paintjob (though Fueled by the Fallen has plenty of those in its stable). It is powerful in another way though; listed on the side of the car are the names of all the fallen first responders from the fateful day.
So this weekend, as you’re enjoying your beer and hot dogs, take a moment to thank your local heroes, and remember the sacrifice many have made to ensure America remains the freest, best country Earth has ever known.
