Nitrous Express’ LT1 Plate Kit Allows You To Bolt On Up To 300 HP

The C7 Corvette is arguable the best ‘Vette the General has ever produced. From its 460 horsepower, direct-injected gen-V LT1, to its optional Magnetic Ride Control suspension, it offers supercar performance for entry-level sports car coin. But what happens when you get used to all those ponies and that ultra flat torque curve? Well, if you ask the guys over a Nitrous Express, you hook a little laughing gas up to it. And that’s just what they’ve done with their LT1 Nitrous Plate System.

We’ve all experienced what we like to call “horsepower amnesia”, a documented condition where your car seems to get slower without actually getting slower. Suddenly a low 12-second quarter mile time feels like “Driving Miss Daisy.” And while there are many options these days for improving the acceleration of your beloved ‘Vette, there are few options that offer as much bang for the buck as a nitrous system.

That’s where Nitrous Express comes in. Their kit, for the LT1 ‘Vette— and Camaro—, allows you to bolt on a system capable of delivering up to 300 additional ponies. While it might seem redundant to mention it, that is A LOT! For those of you that are feeling the need for speed, but not necessarily 300-horses worth of it, the kit enables you to run the gamut from a 50 shot on up to the aforementioned big daddy 300 kick. That gives you a lot of versatility— and a lot of temptation.

Nitrous Express’s system supplies the engine with atomized fuel and nitrous from the top of the plate, meaning it is absent the typical spray bar that bisects your air stream in others systems and improves air flow. Nitrous Express also says that the newer plate is better at atomizing the nitrous, distributing it more evenly throughout the intake charge. The plate itself is billet aluminum and bolts between your factory throttle body and intake manifold. The kit is a ‘wet shot’— meaning it delivers fuel at the same time as the nitrous for the uninitiated. The solenoids are made from billet aluminum and carbon fiber— making it, ironically, both a lightweight and a heavy hitter at the same time.

A new bracket was also recently released by NX specifically to mount the carbon fiber solenoids, allowing for an ultra clean installation on your C7 Corvette.

A fuel line adapter eliminates the need to cut up your stock fuel system to feed the plate with fresh octane, and a throttle position sensor (TPS) Autolearn switch ensures that the nitrous system will only arm when you are at wide open throttle. It also shuts off the system as soon as you let off the gas, ensuring safe operation of the nitrous kit.

The system includes a stainless braided N20 line, a master arming switch, relay, relay harness and everything you need to get the kit working on your ride. You can order it with a myriad of bottle options ranging from no bottle all the way up to the mac daddy 12-pound carbon fiber bottle— which weighs next to nothing. There is also a 15-pounder metal bottle if you’d rather save a little dough and carry a little more nitrous.

But after you’ve bought yourself a new nitrous kit from Nitrous Express, where do you put all of the switches? After all, you might be doing a little grudge racing and don’t want anyone to have an inkling that it is anything other than a bolt-on LT1 car.

Well, they’ve got you covered there too with their new custom switch panel. It replaces the dash-mounted pop up lighter plug with a sneaky hide away nitrous switch mounting plate. The best part is that no permanent modifications are needed to mount it, so if you ever decide to pull the kit back of the car and sell it, everything can be put straight back to stock.

A great way to keep the install of your nitrous system as down low as possible.

And if one of their bolt-on plate kits still isn’t satisfying you in the nitrous department, they can also make you a custom direct port nitrous injection set up. While this is much more involved than just bolting on a plate kit, and costs substantially more, it is hard to argue against how good the fit and finish on one of these units really is.

Direct port may be a big jump for some, but by the time you are putting in that 300 shot pill and are still looking for more, you have options and Nitrous Express has you covered.10487414_835404103136822_1151709749431642390_n_zpsk2igafno
