Everyone knows that both the Chevrolet Camaro and Corvette are amazing vehicles, with the new Corvette Grand Sport pushing a decent 460 horsepower straight off the showroom floor. But, Specialty Vehicle Engineering (SVE), took the amazing power and performance of the ‘Vette and the Camaro, and turned it into something even better.
One of their recent creations, the Yenko Corvette, was almost completely redesigned from the ground up. It features forged steel crank and rods, forged aluminum pistons, and is finished off with ported and polished LT1 heads. But lets not forget the most important part– the supercharger. Since it’s based on the Grand Sport, it comes with the same aggressive body lines, upgraded brakes, LSD, and all that other good stuff that makes the GS so special. The monster’s 800 horsepower is put to the ground through either a 7-speed manual or 8-speed auto transmission.
Of course, the Classic Yenko stripes are a given– but the quad-tip exhaust, the new bumper and diffuser, and unique badging make for quite the presentation. But… it comes at a price. About $112,445, actually. The Yenko package alone costs $46,000 and a Grand Sport has to be provided before the build takes place.
But now, SVE has taken a shot at the Camaro SS and, like with the ‘Vette, they definitely succeeded. The result: yet another 800 horsepower monster.
SVE built the SS’ entire engine, utilizing a forged steel crankshaft, H-beam rods, forged aluminum pistons, CNC ported and polished LT1 heads, LT4 fuel system and injectors, and a custom supercharger. Other than the horsepower output, no numbers were released, but they call this creation the “Hellcat killer,” so we’re guessing its numbers are going to be quite impressive.
It’s worth mentioning that automatic Camaro SS’ run a 12.3 second quarter mile– so with an additional 345 horsepower, could this Yenko SS be a 10-second car? Only 50 will be made, and, like the Corvette, it comes with a hefty price tag. In addition to requiring a donor car, SVE charges $40,000 for one of these limited-edition Yenkos.
