When the 5th Generation Camaro started production in April of 2009 Chevrolet enthusiasts around the globe rejoiced. But in 2010 Chevrolet announced a new option for Camaro lovers. Starting in early 2012 the new Camaro ZL1 will enter into production.
Finding its inspiration from the the 1969 Camaro ZL1. The ’69 ZL1 was a top of the line, amazing performance driven machine. Boasting an all aluminum 427 V8, only 69 were ever produced. The new 2012 will also be the same. Fans of the new Camaro can expect a minimum of 550 horsepower. All being produced by the Supercharged LSA 6.2L V8. Here are a few of the features that the Camaro ZL1 will sport.
- LSA 6.2L Supercharged V-8
- Tremec TR6060 six-speed manual
- Magnetic Ride Control
- six-piston fixed Brembo aluminum front and four-piston rear calipers
At this point we can go on and on about this car. But instead, why don’t we let someone who knows the car in and out explain to you all of the advantages of the ZL1. This is where we will hand it off to Al Oppenheiser, Chief Engineer of the ZL1, and the video below. The 2012 Camaro ZL1 can be summed up by Oppenheiser in one quote, “This is the most technological, and powerful Camaro that we have ever done.”
