We seem to find a lot of videos from foreign countries depicting LSX cars. Even if they do include some sort of moon-speak instead of good old ‘Merican English, they are still rather entertaining. The latest YouTube video we came across is no different, and might just be the best one yet. After all, who can argue with a fifth-generation Camaro being thrashed around with all kinds of fancy driving from a professional European driver?
The video, titled Tour de piste au Navarra, starts off with shots of the landscape. Just when you start suspecting the video is really of a National Geographic special, a Camaro comes thundering across the screen. Dressed in business clothes, Yvan Muller, a French race car driver (and reigning World Touring Car Champion), pulls the Camaro up to the gates of Circuito de Navarra, an impressive race course in northern Spain. After a bit of screwing around on the road up to the actual track, Muller arrives in the garages where he changes from his professional business attire to his racing gear.
Once on the track in the same Camaro, Muller takes plenty of time to squeal his tires, skid through a bit of dirt, slide around corners and throw a heavy foot on the gas pedal. He does this all while being as cool and collected as can be – as if he could be sipping a cup of coffee with no care in the world. He even flashes the camera man a thumbs up in a slow-motion segment. There’s something to be said for French savoir-faire…
In the end, Muller is told his time is up on the track. He pulls back up to the garage area and stops his race track antics, but not before he drifts circles around the track girl with the checkered flag.
Although the text is all in a different language, and the music is a bit weird, the video is very entertaining to watch. Not only does Muller strut his stuff with all kinds of impressive driving, the Camaro is also rather impressive – being able to perform very well, even with Muller’s thrashing.
For a care-free break from your work day, check out Tour de piste au Navarra. But please don’t go trying to drift your mini van home. It’s really not as easy as it looks.
