If you’ve been following our coverage of the Cadillac ATS, the CTS-V’s little sister set to be released next year, you know that it is sure to be a crowd-pleaser. Whether it’s the ATS’ sophisticated looks or potential engine options, we have no doubt that the ATS will make a name for itself in the smaller car market. More importantly, this is the same platform that will underpin the 6th Generation Camaro, which enthusiasts hope will be a smaller, lighter car than the current model. Amping up our expectations of the car is a new spy video released of the car doing some testing on the German Nurburging track. Thanks to Jalopnik, we can get a glimpse of this future powerhouse.
With General Motor’s confirmation of the ATS and ATS-V models, we’ve been monitoring what the Cadillac could potentially have in store for us. After GM released a video of the car in action, we wanted more. With specification sheets supposedly leaked, we’re already counting down the days until we can get our hands on one of the new Cadillacs. Unfortunately, we’ve got a little while to wait so the latest spy video is going to have to do for the time being.
The ATS in the video is a bit subdued compared to a potential V8 version of the car, so speculation brings us to the point of thinking this may be one of the base models supposedly set to be powered by a V6.
While a V6 Cadillac may not sound as intriguing as a beastly V8, the ATS in the video doesn’t seem to have any problem passing a BMW 5-Series or outbraking it at the track. With today’s V6s being more powerful than the V8s of only a decade ago, the ATS may turn out to be quite the peppy little car, no matter what version you’re driving.
We’ve got plenty of time to get more information on the ATS as it comes available. For now, sit back and enjoy the video of Cadillac’s latest endeavor.
