Beauty’s in the eye of the beholder and sometimes our overseas friends have a unique take on American cars and culture. Take this nice little 1959 Corvette from Finland that’s received a curious green and yellow wrap with Shell insignias on the fenders. It was originally a silver car with black interior and a nice set of Cragar Torque-Thrust wheels.

The thing sounds hearty and hale and we hear it burble over the cobble stone streets of a Hansel and Gretel-esque town in Northern Europe.

We’re not quite sure what the livery colors represent, but some comments have suggested Green Bay Packer hues. Maybe this Vette owner in Finland is a Packers fan, but it seems wishful thinking by US football fans. Most likely this is a Euro Rally car thing and the Shell connection might be a clue…

Odd color combo or not, the car is vintage C1 cool. We get a look under the hood which reveals a vintage looking, stroker 383 small block V8 in a spotless engine compartment. The car rolls through Helsinki Cruising Night, serenading Finland’s capital city with a melodious Detroit soundtrack. We also get to see before and after shots of the car as well.

What’s almost as cool as the footage of this old school ‘Vette, is the hub bub in Helsinki as Detroit muscle takes over the streets. The juggernaught of American pop culture permeates every corner of the globe and from this vantage point, we get a different perspective of the Corvette brand. Especially when a broad shouldered example swaggers down the street in a quaint little village, thousands of miles away. In fact, it makes us a little verklempt, because if there were a car that represents everything great about America, it’s the Corvette. Now, when does the wrap come off??
