As people employed with writing news stories following the ebb and flow of the auto industry, we are often left wondering; just who are these people buying Corvettes and Mustangs in the final model year before a major redesign? Sure, sales of these iconic cars always taper off in anticipation of the new models, but there always seems to be plenty of people ready to buy last-year’s trends at a discounted rate.
But what if you really, really want the look of the all-new Corvette, but for whatever inexplicable reason have an affinity for the outgoing C6 models? Well Supervettes might just have the answer, and its called the SV8.R conversion. This kit will transform your C6 Corvette into a C7… sort of. And it won’t be cheap.
For $60,000, Supervettes will change almost everything about the exterior of your C6 Corvette to make it look just like the all-new C7, with a carbon fiber body that will fit any 2005 to 2013 model Corvette. It also makes the C6 Corvette about five inches wider, because this isn’t a real C7 after all, and you can only convert so much.
So who will this kit appeal to? Perhaps people who have way more than $60,000 invested into their C6 Corvette already, and can’t justify the addition of another garage space to an already-crowded collection. That said, with a brand new Corvette Stingray starting at just $55,000, or $5,000 less than the cost of this kit, it’s kind of hard to make a logical argument any which way about it. You dig?
