An email press release alerted us to a one-of-a-kind event happening this weekend, March 12-14, 2021 at the Goodguys 11th Annual LMC Truck Spring Lone Star Nationals in Fort Worth, Texas.
First, this is a special event this year for Goodguys because they are allowing 1988 to 1998 GM Trucks into the show for this one event. Previously, GoodGuys only allowed vehicles built in 1987 and earlier to compete for awards, in autocross events, and be on display. The addition of OBS trucks makes them among the most modern vehicles you’ll find at the classic car and truck show.
Second, the Ridetech crew are loading up the bed of a bone stock 1997 Chevy “farm truck” owned by one of their own employees. The bed will be packed with a complete air suspension system by Ridetech. From their home office in Indiana, the crew will drive to Fort Worth to attend the Goodguys show on the worn-out old truck suspension. That’s a brutal 850-mile trip.
Once at the show, the team will perform a complete suspension replacement by removing the stock suspension and fitting a new Ridetech air ride system. This swap, including wheels and tires, will take place right in their vendor booth for everyone to see. From there, the crew will be driving back from the event in the truck with the new suspension or walk home if they fail.
This Air Suspension System for 88-98 C1500 includes front tubular upper and lower control arms, drop spindles, bolt-on wishbone, front HQ shocks, rear HQ shockwaves, and front sway bar.
According to the Ridetech team, “If you ever wanted to know how to install an air suspension system – you can get all your questions answered right there – or watch our video coverage from your own garage.”
