A 1969 Chevelle is the perfect starting point for a rowdy resto mod build. This particular Chevelle goes by the name “Malibeast”, and it really is a fitting title for this car. The recipe for this radical ride is equal parts old-school looks, and modern horsepower. The final product is a brutal street cruiser that can violate its rear tires on demand.

Swan, the owner, and builder of the Malibeast, purchased the car with the earnings from his childhood paper route. The Chevelle was in pretty rough shape and had been living under a tarp, but that didn’t deter Swan from buying the car. Swan has spent over 22 years building, and rebuilding the Malibeast so it would fulfill his vision of what the car should be, an outrageously fun street car.

The Malibeast’s heart consists of a junkyard 6.0 LS block that’s been filled with forged internals. Boost District Superchargers provided the TVS 2650 supercharger that’s bolted to the LS engine. The package makes almost 600 horsepower and over 640 lb-ft of torque. Swan rows his own gears thanks to a T56 transmission. Inside the Malibeast Swan added a Billet Specialties steering wheel and Dakota Digital gauges.

Swan spent just as much time making sure the Malibeast looked as good as it ran. The car was sprayed with a black primer undercoat before the 2012 Camaro Corvette Ashen Gray Metallic was applied. This gives the Malibeast an ominous and dark look that’s very unique. The car rolls on a set of Billet Specialties Street Lites wheels that help give it a perfectly aggressive stance.
