While ProCharger’s brand new F1-X supercharger certainly grabbed all of the headlines early in the year with records abound in the X275 category and elsewhere, it was the big and mighty F3 series that stole away the limelight as the season drew to a close, thanks in large part to a new all-time Outlaw Drag Radial record.
ProCharger’s biggest and baddest blower, the F3-136, helped propel small-tire veteran “Stevie Fast” Jackson to a 4.19 elapsed time at a recent testing session, marking the first and only time a radial tire-equipped car has hit the ‘teens in the eighth-mile.
The 136, according to ProCharger’s Dave Werremeyer, brings to the table everything that the company learned with the development of their massive F4 prototype supercharger, particularly in the area of the impeller and the vane diffuser. The ProCharger team began testing the 136 on the dyno and on the track last fall, and put it into active duty this season with impressive results.
The F3-136 boasts a standard F3 Series transmission with a high efficiency impeller, and is capable of eight pounds more boost than its predecessor, the F3-135. Combined with the capability of rotational speeds in the neighborhood of 72,000-74,000 RPM, maximum flow of 4,000 cfm and boost ceiling of 50 psi, you have a single unit with the potential for 2,800 to 3,000 horsepower.
As they do each and every year here at PRI, ProCharger is also honoring their distinguished customers that carried the banner to world championships and major race titles. And the list is once again long and prominent.
This year’s honorees include eight-time NMRA Super Street Outlaw champion John Urist (his seventh-straight in the class), Urist’s fellow racer and NMRA and NMCA 275 Drag Radial champ Jason Lee, Yellow Bullet Nationals’ X275 winner Rich Bruder, OSCA EZ Street champ Noel Berg, WCHRA Outlaw 8.5 titleist Eric Gustafson, NMCA WEST Outlaw 10.5’s Al Jimenez, and NMCA WEST X275 champ Kevin Young.
