We caught up with Mark Williams at the 2013 PRI tradeshow in Indianapolis, Indiana. While things were cooling off below zero outside of the Convention Center, Mark Williams Enterprises was heating things up inside the building. Williams was showing off the latest products in the MW Enterprises stable – a super light Gen 5 Camaro front hub (Part #75538) and Gen 5 Camaro front brake kit (Part #75530).
According to Williams, “Our brake kit features a Slot-Drive disc attachment system manufactured from rust resistant stainless steel. This design allows components to thermally expand and contract without creating warping stress common in other systems.”
Our brake kit maintains the original track width to preserve the original steering geometry. When combined with the Lightweight Front Hub kit the total weight savings is very exciting.
Williams also stresses that the precision kit features heat-treated lightweight alloy rotors and optional lightening holes to reduce rotating weight and create a fresh friction surface on the brake pads, ensuring optimal stopping surfaces.
“Our brake kit maintains the original track width to preserve the original steering geometry,” said Williams, adding, “When combined with the Lightweight Front Hub kit the total weight savings is very exciting.”
Features of the Mark Williams Gen 5 Camaro Brake kit:
- All brackets and bushings are made from top grade aircraft aluminum alloy and feature a gold finish
- Four piston MW calipers with internal porting
- Caliper design features an extra strong 7/16-inch bridge bolt
The new Mark Williams super light Gen 5 Camaro Front Hub for Gen 5 and COPO Camaros is a direct replacement for the heavy and high drag OEM unit bearing hub. Designed for maximum weight savings and reduction of drag, this unit features triple low drag bearings, an aircraft aluminum housing, and a lightened, heat treated aircraft alloy hub. The rotating torque is 75% less than the OEM assemblies.
According to Williams, “Our alloy steel hub is shot peened and nickel plated for rust prevention and features extensive internal tulip form for maximum weight reduction. A weight savings of six pounds per vehicle over the OE equipment is obtained.”
This is a perfect match to the MW front brake kit, combining maximum weight reduction with the stopping ability required for Drag Race applications.
