At the 2014 PRI show in Indianapolis, Indiana, we got the unique opportunity to have our own Dennis Pittsenbarger sit down with multi-time NASCAR champ Tony Stewart and Chevrolet’s Jim Campbell. For the complete interview, watch the video above – in addition to talking about this year’s team championship for Kevin Harvick, Stewart also touched on Chevrolet Performance’s “Ultimate Camaro SS” program.
You may recall that we got to experience said Camaros for ourselves last month, and came away impressed with both the Street and Track versions. The program highlights ways in which production components from high-end 5th Gen Camaro models like the Z/28 and ZL1 can be used to upfit the “ordinary” SS at an affordable price.
The 2015 Chevrolet Performance catalog (available for your free downloading pleasure here) lays it all out on page 31, broken down by model year and SS/1LE.
Campbell pointed out that by starting with a pre-owned Camaro to save money on the front end, and using the factory components outlined in the catalog, it’s possible to build a Boss 302 killer on a budget.
We’re working on borrowing one of Chevy’s ultimate Camaro SS prototypes for an extended test, but in the meantime check out the catalog and get your own Camaro wish list started!
